Hazel walked quietly towards that one place that was supposedly where a truce was held between the people of this island. Hazel knew that wasn't true, so she was quiet and careful to see that nobody was around. She hoped that she would be one of the ten to make it out alive, but she knew that wasn't possible. The gangs existed and the ten of them would crush the one of her. So she made sure that as she walked to the lake nobody followed her and that nobody was there.
Hazel had to be careful. She wasn't the strongest, nor the swiftest, or even the smartest out of these people, and not to mention that she didn't have full control over her powers. Hazel could win a fight, but she also went into most fights expecting to lose. So when she got to the lake and ran into the center were the dock was and then sat down, she was expecting to worst. When nothing happened she looked down at the water and dipped her hand into it. A sudden calm washed over her and as she pulled her hand back out of the water a little thread of water came out with it.
Hazel smiled and twirled her hand, which made more water come up out of the lake in a little tornado. Then she stood and took a deep breath. She punched the air and the water solidified and shot like a dagger in the direction she had punched. Then a wave of sadness hit her. She reminded herself to keep it together and keep calm, but the sad feelings just kept coming. She took a breath again and closed her eyes. She had to do this without being sad. She punched the air again and then suddenly she was on the ground sad.
Hazel refused to cry, but she was sitting there in a puddle of the water that she had been morphing and now she was terribly terribly sad. She pulled her knees up to her chest and kept taking deep breaths to try and calm down again, but then she heard footsteps on the dock behind her and she realized she hadn't been paying attention to what was going on around her. Hazel quickly drew her sword and turned around to face the person approaching her. She hoped they wouldn't have to fight, but if it came down to it she wouldn't hesitate to fight them.

John leaped over a fallen tree, pushing through drooping branches and leaves. He had his machete in hand, with his revolver in his back pocket, and dagger roped around his belt. He was fully prepared for an attack, since that seemed to be all he ever did nowadays. Though, he didn't seem to have a problem with that. At this point, the blood and gore seemed to thrill him, for he knew each kill got him closer to escaping.
The Kyusen came into view as John shoved back the last branch with the tip of his machete. In an instant, the baking sun took a toll on him, and John wanted to escape back into the shaded forest. Although, just before he spun around, he noticed some movement over by the dock. He cupped his hand over his eyes, and watched as a girl, played with - no, controlled the water in the lake. John grinned. She was so vulnerable, so innocent. It was like she was asking to die. He began casually walking toward the girl, swinging his machete around in the open air.She must have heard him walking over to her, because as soon as he was only a few yards away, she spun around, facing him. John chuckled, and grinned once more.
"Well, well well." He said smoothly. "What do we have here?"

Hazel took in the person standing before her and realized that he had probably been about to kill her, but she didn't know that for sure. Hazel kept her distance from the man and hoped he wouldn't be too hard to fight, if it came down to that, but something told her it would. Hazel was pretty mad at both herself and this guy. Herself for almost getting killed, and him for trying to kill her. The familiar burning feeling started in her stomach as he started talking.
Hazel didn't speak for a moment. She judged his question and him. Finally she just lowered her sword, but kept the anger in case he tried to jump her. "Simply enough, I was practicing my powers in a place that is supposed to be used for peace, but I'm assuming that you were going to kill me. Am I wrong?" She glared at him and waited to see what he would say or do. Her anger fueling her bravery in speaking. She wouldn't admit it, but she was actually itching to fight this guy, even though she had no doubt she would not have the upper hand in this battle.

Her reply was somewhat unexpected, but nothing John couldn't handle. He kept the grin on his face as he rested the machete's blade on his shoulder. He surveyed her for a brief moment, taking in the details of her complexion. He snickered and opened his mouth to reply.
"No, you aren't wrong. Though, I'm going to assume you're new around here, considering you still think this place is used as a truce." John lifted his machete of his shoulder, and held it on his side. All of the sudden, John realized that this girl could become an ally. Sure, he would have to kill her off in the end, to support his gang, but she would be very helpful until then.
Sitting down on the wooden bridge, John crossed his legs and placed his freshly sharpened machete on his knees. "Listen, I'm going to let you off the hook, but you know, someone like me will come and kill you if you stay here. You probably should go somewhere else to practice your powers."

Hazel decided very quickly that she did not like him. How could he be so nonchalant when he had quite literally been about to kill her? She supposed she couldn't blame him, all he wanted to do was get off of the stupid island. When he said that he was assuming she was new she shrugged. She was kind of new, she had only been here for a month or two. At least she knew now that this place wasn't safe, at all/
Hazel gritted her teeth when he stated to say that he would let her off the hook. For what exactly? For catching his line of sight while she was practicing? She finally took a deep breath. "If somebody like you is going to kill me then you should be somebody I'm avoiding. Thanks for not killing me, but goodbye. Hopefully we won't cross paths again." [She growled. Then she turned away from him and began to walk back to the land.

John smirked at her reply, and watched as she got up and began walking away. Boy, was this girl feisty. He had never meet a soloist who was so confident. Usually they were so frightened whenever they saw him and his gang. It was quite admirable really. Though, all he really cared about was making her an ally, to help his team. He didn't even care that he would have to kill her later on. In fact, if he had to lie to her, he was more than willing. John rose to his feet and cleared his throat before he began to speak once more.
"You know, you don't have to avoid me. I mean, only ten people can get out of here right?" John called out to her. He left it at that, waiting for her response.

She had been completely ready to walk out of there and never look back, but then he called out and she kind of paused. Hazel didn't have anybody to fight with, but she also didn't want anybody to fight with. All she wanted to do was survive until the end and then if there was a gang left she'd do her best and try to at least kill one of them to get out. She didn't know about having an ally though. That meant somebody she had to trust, and she wasn't the best at trusting people.
Hazel didn't know that he was in fact, the leader of a gang. If she had known then she would have booked it out of there before he could say another word. To here this guy was just a random. Maybe he was in a gang, maybe he wasn't, but he could be useful. Finally she turned again to look at him. She was calming down from her rage, which probably wasn't the best thing, but she could still fight him. She glared at him for a second. "I'm aware only ten people get out. I have a plan for your information. Anyway's why does it matter to you? No doubt you're a good enough fighter to get out of here." She crossed her arms over her chest in defiance.

John rolled his eyes. Okay, this girl was seriously getting on his nerves. He was starting to rethink the alliance. If she was going to be this stubborn, then why bother? It wouldn't get John or his gang anywhere.
"You know what? Never-mind. Forget I said anything. I hope we never see each other again." He responded with an annoyed sigh. He spun around, and began walking away. "Unless, of course, it's me ending your life. Then I would very much like to come upon you another time." John called over his shoulder as he strode down the board-walk.

When he got annoyed and started to walk away Hazel took it as a win. She hadn't died, nor had she had to kill him. She smirked and turned on her heels, not even caring about his further statement about meeting her only to kill her. "Dear sir, you have already spared my life once as it seems any further gratitude shown from you would be unlikely." She laughed a little and started walking. Hazel knew she was pushing her luck with him, but she was in her fire mood and was bouncing from happy to mad in a matter of seconds. Side effects of her powers.
