Appearance:
Marin, or Mare, has amber eyes and long, burgundy hair that's almost always tied up in a ponytail. She's 5'7" and very fit, with a constant surplus of energy. Having a competitive personality, she played every sport she could manage to get involved in, growing up. She's very good at glaring and can be a bit intimidating at times.
She usually wears a greenish-grey field jacket over some trousers and a tank top. A belt with a pocket (similar to a fanny pack) around her waist is an easy place to attach any weapons or supplies, such as rope. To complete the ensemble, she wears a pair of sturdy hiking boots (or simply goes barefoot).

Personality:
Mare is a hotheaded tomboy who had just finished her military training when she was discovered. Because she's loud and expressive, many people knew who she is, even if she didn't know them personally. Although she can be very stubborn and opinionated, she respects her "superiors", though she decides who those are.
Despite her (former) job in the military, she hates conflict. What she doesn't realize though, is that she often causes it. She can come across as judgmental sometimes and be awkward in expressing herself verbally. However, when she's comfortable with someone, she can be fun, witty and as loyal as they come.
In battle, she's fierce, impulsive, and seemingly fearless, which can be both a good and bad thing. However, she's really very insecure inside. She was bullied a bit when she was younger and though she doesn't show it (after all, acting was one of her hobbies), her self esteem has never recovered.
She's a very responsible person who sometimes takes on too much responsibility. She feels like it's her duty to protect people, not just because of her parents (who were also in the military), but because that's just what she feels like she owes to the world.

History:
Marin was adopted as a baby to a good family who cared about her. She was different, true, but they still loved her. Even despite her horrible temper, she and her adopted family (which grew to include three younger brothers) got along great.
Like many little girls, Mare was bullied. At first she just took it because she didn't want to stir up more trouble, but eventually she snapped and became a bully herself during elementary school. When she got a bit older, she went to therapy for her aggressiveness, but no one could make much sense of it; it just wasn't quite normal, what with her feral mind and all. As for her other odd behaviors, people typically just thought of them as unique, or funny, and didn't give her much grief about it.
At nineteen, Mare was finally discovered for her powers, captured, and taken to the dome. An old family photo is now all she has to remember them by, but she's not sure if she really does want to escape the dome after all. It's a horrible place to live, and she misses her family terribly, but she knows that she's dangerous, and it really was a miracle that she never seriously injured any of them before. So she's spent her first few months here simply avoiding the thought of it.

Power(s):
Mare has an animal soul, giving her the ability of animal mimicry, which allows her to imitate different animal abilities and behaviors, such as improved night vision and speed. However, because she is incapable of transforming into any animal, she can only mimic traits that allow her to remain in her human form. For example, while she can hold her breath underwater for longer than a normal human being, she is unable of actually breathing water like a fish, for lack of gills.
Her mimicking skills also allow her to communicate with various animals, but while she can often intimidate them into doing what she wants, she cannot control them.
Mare's power is a very instinctual one. It's not something that she can turn on or off; it just happens. So, while she enjoys many animal strengths, she often experiences various animal weaknesses, such as hearing ultrasound waves or simply finding catnip irresistible.
Sometimes, she becomes so engrossed in the animal world that she begins to lose her sense of humanity, which can make her as dangerous as any other wild animal. However, even when she's more in touch with her human emotions, she has a tendency to lose her temper, and if she gets angry enough, her feral mind can take over. She is the most dangerous in this state, because not only are her physical abilities enhanced and she can take more damage, but she is caught up in an unstoppable rage and may not be able to distinguish even her friends from her enemies.
